We Provide Expert Immigration Lawyer's Assistance Services For: UK High Potential Individual Visa Application.
Recently, the UK increased the number of universities in the world that qualify. This means that the UK free visa path, known as the High Potential Individual visa, or HPI, is now open to more qualifying graduates.
The HPI candidate does not require sponsorship from a UK employer before submitting an application, in contrast to the UK skilled worker visa path, which requires workers to be employed by a government-approved employer and make at least £41,700 annually, or the "going rate" for their line of work, whichever is higher.
For up to two years, successful HPI applicants may work in the UK as employees, independent contractors, or volunteers; those with PhDs may do so for up to three years. This implies that visa holders are free to work, hunt for work, or change jobs or employers while in the UK without needing a UK job offer.
If they match the eligibility conditions, successful candidates may be joined or accompanied by their spouse or partner, including any dependant children under the age of 18.
Candidates must receive 70 points for meeting the visa's financial, linguistic, and educational requirements.
Global Universities Degree: 50 points.
The candidate must have received a bachelor's or graduate degree from an international institution within the previous five years. The Home Office Global Universities List for the month and year the qualification was granted must include the awarding institution.
English Language (currently at B1 level): 10 points.
According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the potential candidate must be able to comprehend and speak English at a specific level. This entails having at least Level B1 (intermediate) reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through January 7, 2026.
Level B2 (an A-level equivalent) will be required for new applicants starting on January 8, 2026. A High Potential visa candidate can fulfill the English language criterion in a variety of ways.
In order to meet the language criterion, citizens of nations with a majority of English speakers will just need to provide proof of their nationality and identification. Likewise, if a candidate received a degree taught in English or earned a level 4 or 5 Scottish National Qualification, English GCSE, or A-level during their time in the UK.
In all other situations, an applicant must pass a Secure English Language Test (SELT) unless they can demonstrate that they have already fulfilled the English language requirement in a prior application for entry clearance or permission to remain, such as when they are switching to a High Potential Individual visa from within the UK.
The Home Office website lists authorised test providers, including LanguageCert, who must administer the SELT.
Financial Maintenance: 10 points.
An applicant must demonstrate that they can live independently of government assistance once they arrive in the UK. This entails having at least £1,270 in cash on hand on the application date.
Additionally, candidates need to demonstrate that they have had those monies in their account for at least 28 days, ending no more than 31 days prior to the application date. The applicant won't have to fulfill the financial maintenance criteria if they have been in the UK legally for at least 12 months at the time of application.
Total necessary for the High Potential Individual visa: 70 points.
